Our lives sometimes become very cluttered, crowded with things to do, and just plain stressful. We might come to the conclusion that we need to "cut out" some things in order to maintain our sanity. We have to find more time for the important things in life.
What I'm writing here are things I have put into practice myself. I have a little place for everything. I always put my keys back into a slot in my purse so that I never have to hunt for them when I get ready to leave the house. I have a special mug where I store all the writing pens and highlighters I use on a daily basis. When I take off my shoes, I put them back in the spot they belong so I can wear them with the right outfit again. I can mention more, but you get the idea.
Keep your closets organized. This can take some effort. I rearrange my seasonal clothes twice a year. It has been suggested to get rid of everything you haven't worn for two years or longer. I've hedged on this, but I vow to do better. When your closet is less cluttered, it's much easier finding the right dress, pants, or blouse to wear in a hurry.
When you have an appointment with the doctor, hair salon, or any appointment where you have to wait, take along your own reading material that's on your "to read" list or your organizer to update your future plans. Always keep a writing pen with you. An additional point is to try to schedule your appointments for the beginning of the day or after the office's lunch break. These periods have less waiting time. Always keep your organizer (hard copy or PDA) with you. You can look at your calendar and immediately see what you have scheduled and at what time.
And ladies, please clean out your purse. Throw out wads of of paper and other garbage from your purse regularly. I personally use a purse with a compartment for everything--cosmetics, glasses, hand wipes, coins, cash, credit cards, pens, calculator, receipts, coupons, etc. I try to keep my purse relatively small/lightweight since a heavy purse is a killer on the spine. (I still have room for improvement in this area).
Last is to learn to say "No". This may take some practice, but do not take on more than you can handle. It can be said politely so as not to offend, but learn to say it and mean it. I have finally managed this and it certainly has allowed me to find more time for myself.
These have just been a few suggestions to allow you to have time for the more important things in the day. I also de-stress by reading and spending time with my crafts. Browse through my studio and see my latest creations.
