White and pink baby booties newborn preemie acrylic yarn crochet
Last year at this time, we were all anticipating a birth.  My friend was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first child  The doctors told her it was a boy (which turned out to be just so) so I leaned heavily towards the blue and green end of the baby color spectrum.  I made a ripple afghan and a little blue cap and two pairs of coordinating booties for the new little fellow.

I got a little overwhelmed with all the blue baby stuff so I went and dug through my stash and found a bit of of some very nice white, sort of sparkly yarn and got to work on a new pair of booties.  And because I'm a little tired of looking at blue, I used bright pink ribbon for the ties.  They're cute as the dickens and because the yarn was a lighter weight, they came out a little smaller than the blue ones did.  Definitely a newborn size.

I get a ridiculous amount of pleasure and satisfaction from making these little booties.  They're a quick project that occupies my hands and my mind in a comfortable way.  I'm really glad I decided to pick up my crochet hook again.  You can find my cute baby things in three places on the world wide web:
