Busy weekend

Once again I'm a bit off-schedule for getting new items updated to my Artfire account.  Part of this is because last weekend I participated in the Seattle AIDS Walk again this year.  In recent years it's gone from being a little over a mile walk to a 5K walk and run (so a little over 3 miles).  It went pretty well and the weather was great if a bit more humid than I like to deal with.  I found I had some hip issues this year - likely due to a bit too much activity in the days leading up to the walk combined with a bit too much time sitting in front of the computer vs walking in the last year.  I ended up pretty much in the back of the pack but I finished the walk in good spirits.  However this combined with pretty heavy (for this area) humidity on Sunday & Monday made me distinctly lethargic.

In a plan to be in better shape for the walk next year and in general, I did the same length of walk last night around a nearby lake in Seattle:  Greenlake.  There's less humidity and, though I've been fairly slow to get moving today, I'm hoping to be more productive tonight and tomorrow.

So far, my biggest Artfire related accomplishment this week is to get a friend signed up for the great $5.95 pro deal they have going (which ends today by the way so if you've been waffling it's time to make a decision).  I have spent some time reading useful information on the forums as well.  It's easy to lose time there with so much useful information and helpful folks around!

Since I'm not currently at home, I also spent a bit of time making a couple new collections:

Skulls, Skulls, Skulls!

and

A Passion for Purple!

I feel a bit bad that some of the items for the Skulls, Skulls, Skulls! collection were languishing in my collection staging area for longer than intended so I think I've mostly used up the extra images I had because things have sold.  This is great but I fear the collection may not be long in staying around.  My apologies to those included.  If it goes go down soon I'll see about making another similar but different item collection that I'll include you in again.

Finally, we're on the eve before the beginning of October - which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  I encourage you to visit the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence link that I've included here to learn more about this issue and what you can do to help.  Pay attention to those around you and try to be someone they can turn to for help.  I noticed a bruise on a friends face and I asked her what happened.  There were other people around.  She said it was nothing and was stupid.  Later I asked her in private if someone had hit her - because I wanted to be sure and phrasing it that way not only made it clear I was worried and what I was worried about but gave her the opportunity to just nod her head in answer if she needed to.  She wasn't hit - for which I'm happy.  I have too many friends who have been the victims of violence.  Also, don't discount Emotional Violence.  I have some pretty deep if invisible scars from that myself and violence often escalates from verbal to physical in abusive relationships.

Okay that's it from me today.  Next time I'll have more crafty things to say - I promise!
