On Sunday, Aubust 22nd the folks who run the Mourning Market had their first Kitsch & Stitch show at Club Motor on 1st Ave in Seattle.  It was actually a nice location with a fair bit of parking and, since the show was on Sunday, no parking meter fees.  There was an area in the back for the vendors to park for free - which was a pleasant surprise as I had expected we'd have to find a lot to park in (to reserve prime parking for the customers).  Unfortunately the show was not so well attended.  I'm not sure if it was Hempfest that drew them off or maybe people didn't know if they'd like what they found there (though there were links to most of the vendors to see what they made), parking concerns, or some combination of these things.  It's too bad because it was a fun bunch of people with a delightful array of items for sale (I believe you can still find them all listed in the "vendors" tab of the web site but that may change for their upcoming show soon).  Since these are home grown artists & crafters, some do not even have a web site to sell things from.  The sales weren't great but I was in fine company!  Hopefully more people will give it a chance if they try it again.  In the meantime, I've applied for the October Mourning Market and should know later this month if I get in or not.

As I said, there were a lot of wonderful folks and crafters at the Kitsch 'n Stitch event.  I want to give a shout out to some of the folks I talked to and got cards from because they have nifty things you should go look at and buy!

This Charming Candy - run by Susan Dziadosz.  She makes lovely hard candy suckers and such.

Spooky Designs - run by Mike Mullins.  Wonderful TV & Movie Monster paintings on a variety of media.

Fairly Enchanted Designs - they make the best monster hats EVAR!!  I *will* have one of these one day - Oh yes I will!

Diamond Tattoo - Majenta is one of the tattooists who participated in the Woman's Tattoo Forum & Art Show that my dear departed friend and tattooist, Gypsy Jill, was one of the founders of.  She does wonderful tattoo work and makes "bitchin' accessories" to boot!

A Bleeker Tomorrow - This nifty aprons are not your mothers apron.  She makes other crafts as well but I was really coveting a sugar skull apron she was selling.

LA RU - run by Lauren Rudeck.  Handmade jewelry & original illustrations.  She has some really nifty stuff I tell 'ya!

Fable & Fury - Neo Victorian and Wayward Adornment. This is another seller I *will* be buying stuff from in the not too distant future and half the people there seemed to be wearing a necklace of hers already - which should tell you something.

So go check these folks out and give them some of your love and wishful thinking even if you can't afford to buy things at the moment.  Any event that introduces me to such fine & talented folks is well worth the effort and cost of attending!
