Yesterday was a day full of syncrhonicities for me. A friend has, for years, been trying to involve me in a local film group. I'm not a filmmaker (yet,) but I am a writer. My friend knows this, and he has asked me to write a screenplay for a small project. Over the years, he's forwarded me events announcements for this particular group. More often than not, scheduling or budget has kept me from being able to go to any events. I went to my first event with this group sometime back in the late 90s, and until last night, that was the last time. (Long story. Lots happened in my life after that.)
Last night, I was finally able to go to an event with him. It was a talk about adapting from print to film, which of course is extremely relevant. I finally had the money to go. I had no schedule conflicts. My health held up. My boyfriend gave me his blessing. So I met my buddy after work, and I went to the talk.
As I was signing in, I entered a drawing they were having for a free class with the company who hosted the talk. I didn't think much of it. I got to leave my business card, so people would see it, and the entry didn't cost anything. Well, I won! I hardly ever win anything, yet I won this drawing for a class in a subject with which I have no familiarity whatsover--but in which I have a strong interest.
The rest of the evening went in a similarly lucky fashion. I let my sweater in a bar, but it was there waiting for me when I realized that fact and we went back to get it. We got WALK signs all the way back and forth down the block. Driving home, I only hit one red light, and that was for just a few seconds.
My boyfriend and I have been talking a lot about my life--about where I am and where I want to go. He gave me an affirmation to use, and I started using it the other day. I am not saying that chanting a few magic words is suddenly completely transforming my life. I am saying that I think I have now, finally, opened my eyes and my heart to the path I desire, and that because I am moving from "I have no choice" to "I have more choices," well, that's becoming more of a reality for me.
Pretty cool, huh?
