I have always loved flowers! As a child I loved playing in the backyard surrounded by my mother's flower gardens. With my sister's help we would gather rose petals to make perfume. Other times we made houses under blanket tents that I would then fill with just picked flowers.

It is not surprising to people who know me that I ended up being a floral designer. I have been designing for over 30 years, and I still love to surround myself with flowers.

But if you live in colder climates you can’t always have fresh cut flowers from your garden in your home.Yes, I do buy fresh flowers for myself when ever I can, but financially not as often as I would like. The vintage Budvase pictured below is from FTD made in Portugal.

The next best thing is a Silk floral arrangement! I decided to create some lovely floral arrangements in vintage vases. Vintage is another of my lifetime loves. There is something special about flowers in a vintage vase!  I use flowers and fillers that reflect the season.

I have created 6 special silk floral arrangements for 3 specific vintage vases.

Each vintage vase has a Winter themed floral arrangement and a Spring themed floral arrangement. I have hand wrapped all the stems together so that you can easily remove the flower arrangements(wrap it in tissue and store till the next time). You just take it out and replace it with the other arrangement. So easy, no experience needed and you have a one of kind silk floral arrangement to reflect the season!

The silk Rose arrangement below is one of my 2 for 1 special silk flower arrangements.

So what are you waiting for? It’s time to add that special touch to your home. Change it up!  Decorating for the seasons is so easy to do with flowers, nothing get noticed like flowers! I’ll share some tips with you for each season.

In the winter it is sparkly leaves & branches, with evergreens, and poinsettias. Flowers in cranberry and gold, or sometimes I like to use winter white as a theme using only white flowers, I tend to change things from year to year.

In the spring I bring the outdoors in!  Think of bright colors like yellow forsythia branches or cherry blossoms arranged in a tall vase or soft pussy willow in a pale pink vintage vase is quite striking.
I like simple white silk tulips in a vase, or a colorful mix of lavenders & pinks in a vintage milk glass budvase.

I love to fill my favorite vintage vase with all white flowers mixed with bells of Ireland & other greens this look carries over into summer.
my favorite vintage vase with all white & green silk flowers

Summer is the best time to bring in fresh cut flowers, but when you can’t; fill vases with silk sunflowers or zinnias. I have seen gorgeous snapdragons at my local Michael’s.
I like to keep the arrangements simple often using just one type of flower. The arrangement below is the "Spring" Silk flower arrangement that is part of my 2 for 1 floral design. Silk bells of Ireland with wild asters in vintage Portugal vase.

Autumn is so glorious with blazing colors of red & gold. I love to use branches of sugar maple leaves arranged simply in a tall sturdy vase.
Silk floral arrangements using gold chrysanthemums and fall russet berries add that touch of fall to your home, gather assorted gourds and display in vintage avocado glass bowls or baskets for a simple touch of fall colors. Below is a vase bursting with dried Bittersweet, and a couple of artificial branches of a plum berry for the deep dark color to match the runner.
