This week I added a brand new netted collar to my Egyptian inspired collection, featuring gorgeous garnet red glass. This necklace style is so beautiful, and is a great way to highlight a beautiful neck. Today, I thought it would be fun to take a look at a few different ways to wear a collar necklace.

Red Garnet Beaded Collar Necklace

With this fashion collage, I chose some alternate accessories, to show just how versatile these necklaces really are. Though they don’t go with quite as many pieces as a classic pendant and chain, they can easily be incorporated into just about any wardrobe.

My favorite way to style a collar is with a strapless top or dress. This gives the necklace plenty of room to do what it does best - make a statement and accentuate the neck and shoulders. I started with a beautiful print dress in black, with colorful but subtle flowers in red, green and blue.

With the gold necklace and turquoise accents in the dress, I chose accessories in these two colors which add a bit of an exotic edge to the outfit. Feather earrings and gladiator sandals are on trend and perfect for summer. For a more boho inspired look, switch out the earrings for a beaded cotton head wrap. A golden beetle cocktail ring adds just one more dash of the Cleopatra vibe.

If you want to really go traditional, any Egyptian style necklace would look fabulous with breezy white linen. Grab a simple linen camisole, then top it with a safari jacket for work or play. This belted jacket looks fabulous with navy slacks, and finished with either turquoise sling backs for the office, or casual leather boots for a lunch date.

This outfit needed a bit more color, so I added a gorgeous braided silk bangle in olive green, embellished with polished brass and carnelian red. It's very rustic chic at the same time, and a perfect partner for our collar necklace. Top everything off with some peacock feathers or gold earrings with lots of movement and you’ll feel as alluring as Isis herself.

Lime Green Tribal Bead Ring

For both outfits, I chose some makeup with essential Egyptian elements: kohl eyeliner and black-as-midnight mascara. Blend it all with some beetle-green eye shadow and you’ve got a smoky eye with attitude. For lips, a deep henna red stain does the trick. To carry it all I found an adorable and somewhat Pharaonic black and white striped tote, or a simple black leather number that goes with everything.
