Every first order from The Sage’s Cupboard includes a jewelry care guide, to help you preserve your one of a kind accessories for years to come. All jewelry from The Sage’s Cupboard is made with care, using quality beads and durable nylon thread. Here are some tips for keeping your new pieces in good shape.
Keep Jewelry Dry
Most of my favorite materials are water resistant, however it is very important to avoid getting beadwoven jewelry wet. Dust and other impurities can build up if water is trapped in the tiny spaces between beads.
Beadwoven jewelry should not be worn during sports, and rings and bracelets should be removed before washing your hands, handling food, or cleaning.
If the jewelry comes
into contact with water, immediately pat dry with a lint-free cloth, and
allow the piece time to dry completely before wearing again.
Cleaning Beadwork Jewelry
To surface clean beadwoven jewelry, when necessary, gently wipe with a lint-free cloth that has been dampened with plain water. Do not allow excess water to settle in the beadwork. Pat dry right away, and allow the piece to air dry before wearing or storing it.
To help keep your beadwoven jewelry clean and in good condition, do not wear pieces immediately after applying lotions, perfumes, or other oily cosmetics.
Storing Handmade Jewelry
Store rings, bracelets and necklaces flat, in a dust proof container whenever possible. Hanging beaded jewelry when not in use can cause unnecessary wear to the threads and beads.
When not in use, keep jewelry away from direct sunlight, to protect and maintain the color of the beads.
Cautions
Always keep beaded jewelry, or items with small parts, away from pets and children. The threads and beadwork will stand up to normal wear and tear, but may become damaged with rough treatment. Beads and other small components may cause a choking hazard.
Of course, jewelry should never be worn when working near machines or equipment with moving parts.
It is important to avoid dropping or tossing your beadwoven jewelry onto hard surfaces - especially if it contains large components, such as crystal cabochons or lampwork glass beads.
Whenever I send a creation to a new owner, it is always my hope that it will become a much cherished piece. Treat them well, and they should last a lifetime!
