At Home Pumpkin Honey Face Masque
If you've found yourself with some left over pumpkin puree, and would like to make a delicious treat for your skin, we have just the recipe.
First, I'd like to share why pumpkin is such a fabulous delight for your skin. One, it's packed with vitamin A. Vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants are free radical scavengers. Free radical damage, also called oxidation, is what is to blame for our skin wrinkling and sagging. Our cell's cellular matrix collapses under the ongoing attack of free radicals. Antioxidants HALT AND REVERSE this attack.
The antioxidants in the pumpkin help to heal and repair the damaged cells of the skin, reversing the oxidizing free radical process for smoother, younger, vibrant skin. In addition, pumpkin contains natural enzymes which dissolve dead skin cells. A truly nourishing, beneficial ingredient for all skin types.
Next, you're going to add in the sweet nectar of honey. Honey also contains living enzymes to further remove dead skin cells, oil and environmental debris. Honey is a good humectant and emollient, serving as a good moisturizer and conditioner. It offers high levels of hydrogen peroxide. Peroxide stimulates white blood cells that initiate the body's immune response to infection. Thereby this makes honey the ideal treatment for skin eruptions such as mild acne.
The end result is soft, smooth, vitamin fed skin. You will not believe how much better your skin will feel throughout, from just one treatment.
The Recipe
Combine the following together in a microwave safe bowl:
1/2 c. pumpkin puree (organic pumpkin is preferred)
1/8 - 1/4 c. natual honey (organic is preferred)
(these are guidelines, the measurements don't have to exact)
Cover loosely, and gently warm in microwave on low setting. You only want the mixture to be slightly warmed. Do short bursts of 30 seconds, and check temperature after each burst. If you make it too warm, just let it cool before using. You also don't want it to be too drippy.
Once warmed, stir, and check to make sure the mixture is not hot.
Apply a layer of the mixture to a clean face. You will want to pull or pin your hair back if it's long enough to fall onto your face. You may also want to put a towel around your neck to catch any drips. Or, you can stand over a sink. (Less enjoyable way).
Try to leave the masque on for 15 - 20 minutes, to allow the vitamins and minerals to soak into your skin. Rinse masque off with warm water and a cloth.
Results: soft, dewey, moisturized, younger looking skin. And, you didn't need to go to a spa!
Store any leftovers in the fridge and use within 3 days. (Repeat with another application) Enjoy!
