I've been looking for jewelry displays to display my jewelry at craft shows and stores. Yesterday, I went to Hobby Lobby to look for necklace displays. I went alone this time, free from my significant other who always whine after 30 minutes in the shop. LOL. SCORE! I found this black iron trellis that happens to be 50% off the regular price. I thought the spacings were great for longer earrings display or pendants display. But it was more of a stake, no base to make it stand by its own. I went to the unfinished wood section and found an oval wood base that fits the width of this metal trellis.
Metal trellis: $4.99 - 50% = $2.50
Wood base: $1.99
Total = $4.50 + tax.
NOT BAD, HUH?
At home, I borrowed my father-in-law's drill and have my husband drill it for me.
Labor cost: $0!
I found a drill bit that's on the same size of the trellis, fits so snugly on the wood base so no glue is required.
THE STEPS:
1. Hold the trellis on top of the wood base. I placed mine right in the middle.
2. Circle around the trellis with a pencil to mark the place to drill (my trellis stakes are not aligned so tracing them were the best way to do it).
3. Puncture the wood with a punch tool (or a ballpoint if you don't have a punch tool) to mark the holes to help the drill stay in place. The wood is soft enough it was easy to punch by hand. No hammer needed.
4. Drill accordingly. Make sure it goes straight down.
5. Remove the wood dust.
6. Push the trellis down the holes.
PS: don't forget to cover your work space with old newspaper for easy clean up.
And TA DA!! Here's the result!

I stamped a piece of brass with my shop's name and glue it with E-6000 onto the wood base so no one else can claim this jewelry display by mistake, if you know what I mean.
After it's done, I found this trellis is so versatile. I can even hang my long necklace on top. Works for almost every type of jewelry; great for long earrings display, great for necklace display, great for bracelet display, I'd think you can even use the sun rays on top to hang rings! Just perfect!
