I recently joined
Color Combo Challenge Group in facebook. I thought this could be a good motivation to create new designs at least once a week. I have been swamped in commissions and it's nice to do art once in a while that is for me. A little me time.
The color theme for Week 81 (my first!) was this bright purple, orange, and yellow color combination. Very summery!
I came up with this design, Space Girl
necklace. Focal piece is this unique conical Amethyst stone with drusy at the bottom. In an attempt of making my
handmade jewelry more three dimensional looking, I found inspiration from
Purified Bill's unique silver jewelry. I domed cut circled to create a helmet looking shape. Took me a looooooong time to think of the technical details on how to join the two pieces together. Then took several tries to get the holes just right to hug the Amethyst cone. My husband thinks the wire wrapped design made the pendant look like a Dutch girl. Haha.

Creating the "bridge" to attach the pendant to the necklace is another long story that's too boring to tell. Decided to use this cute orange lampwork bead from
MelissaBeads and yellow Swarovski crystal to go with the color theme. I happen to have these red-orange coral beads that were in the same color as the lampwork bead. Score! But attaching them to the necklace was yet another long story. Basically, every step of the way was a book of its own. LOL. You don't wanna know!
I'm still contemplating whether to sell or keep this necklace. What do you think? Or make me an offer I can't resist! ;)
