Butterfly and
cocoons are often used as the symbolism of rebirth, transformation, and new beginning. An ambitious project for me. Elaborate and delicate, combining so many wire scrolls intertwined, twisted, bent, and flattened. This butterfly necklaces is featuring my signature cocoon beads. Get the
tutorial at my shop.
It started from a simple sketch. I didn't mean it to be so intricate but it evolved along the way. Rarely I followed a sketch as is, as it is what it is, a sketch; providing guidance but not absolute.
I sketch my sketches using a ballpoint pen on a notebook and/or with my tablet pen in Photoshop.
As with all of my creations, I don't like wire strays. I always make sure that everything is secured in place, either wire wrapped and/or
riveted. It was no different with this one. The challenge was how to combine function and beauty. It can't be overdone, everything gotta have a purpose yet delicate enough so they don't become the focal points. Wire gauge selection is essential achieve this goal.
This is a piece that i can be truly proud of. I hope I can wear this to craft shows to show my true potential. A statement piece that can't be missed. I'm not a person who wears understated
jewelry ;) Be bold!
Check out the custom clasps. The back is almost as beautiful as the front too.
I have been experimenting with my photos too. I bought a couple of these black magnetic yard sign at clearance months ago and just thought of using it as a background for my photos. I think it made my butterfly look more elegant compare to white background. What do you think?
Black or white?
