This is a special order for Connie. This one of a kind dragon ornament was meticulously sculpted by hand in polymer clay. The dragon measures 4" tall (from the top of his head to the tip of his back claws) and 6" from the tip of his snout to the tip of his wings. His wings were sculpted from shimmering royal blue clay with gold clay accents in the center. I stamped the gold clay before baking for added texture. The dragon's underside is covered in gold clay plates. I created a Skinner blend with royal blue and deep purple clays and cut the scales from this blend. Each scale (100's of them!) was individually cut out and placed on the dragon. His claws and fangs were sculpted from glow in the dark clay. His eyes are fire polished multifaceted glass beads, which catch the light beautifully. The dragon holds his special treasure, a cobalt blue glass bead with a sparkling gold spiral topped by a clear glass bead with gold and blue sparkles inside. The plastic covered wire loop for hanging was securely attached to the armature before baking. I used triple thick high gloss glaze on the entire piece, so the dragon almost glows as the light hits it.
