Apricot Wood with Titanium Nitride Accents Pen and Pencil Set

This one of a kind Slimline Pen and Pencil was made with the utmost care. With a discerning eye I scrupulously select the Apricot Wood to hand turn, sand, and finish each Slimline Pen and Pencil on my lathe with a multi-step process. This method is used to not only provide a gorgeous shine but to protect the wood for years to come - even with daily use of the Slimline Pen and pencil. I then determine which accent looks the best with Apricot Wood; in this case I chose Gold Titanium Nitride accents.

Apricot wood is light orange, is extremely dense and hard, shows prominent growth rings and has aroma similar to the fruit when sanded or sawn. Like cherry, apricot darkens over time, however, thorough treatment of the freshly sanded and surfaced boards with a top-coat polymer, apricot kernel oil or a beeswax finish preserves the natural orange color indefinitely. Apricot stock has been traditionally used for making woodwind instruments, tool-handles and planks for cooking salmon. The wood chips are also commonly used to flavor barbecued and smoked meats and fish. The green or wet wood has a tendency to crack, however has been stabilized and is without flaws.
