***USING YOUR FEATHERS FOR CUSTOM ORDERS***
*If you order a custom item using your own feathers I will not charge you the cost of return shipping. Please contact me for more details, I love creating personal pieces for my clients using their fids (feathered kids) mementos. :o)
***SHIPPING/PAYMENTS/RETURNS/REFUNDS***
*INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING of feathers is restricted to some countries, please be aware of your country's custom regulations. And shipping of specific species of bird feathers is illegal - endangered, indigenous, etc- and I will not ship these types of feathers. I am willing to ship to any country at your own risk. If any item is held at the receiving country's customs office I cannot be held responsible for replacement or refund.
*When paypal is used~I ship to paypal addresses only; please make sure your paypal address is current and correct.
I am not responsible to any lost items
due to addresses that differ from the recorded paypal address.
*If the address is changed by me on paypal prior to shipping it will void the seller and buyer protection.
*To receive all paypal purchase protection you need to have a current shipping address listed at the time of purchase. This is a very common error for customers to make and between my two shops and full time job and cannot catch all of the discrepancies for correction prior to shipping. The address needs to be permanently updated through the customer's profile to assure safe and timely delivery with all paypal securities intact.
*Shipping and handling time is 24-48 hours. The majority of the time I ship the same day an item is ordered unless I am working on shift that day or it's a Sunday. If shipping time is delayed for any reason I will email you with an explanation. If at anytime you would like to expedite shipping to priority or express, please contact me upon ordering and I will invoice you the additional amount which starts at $5.
*If you decide to pay by CHECK OR MONEY ORDER than I will ship your item after the check/money order arrives and completely clears. This will delay shipping time from a few days to over a week depending on location and banks.
*I offer a 7 day after purchase (US only) full RETURN/REFUND for any reason policy. Just contact within 7 days of the purchase.
*I am willing to consider exchanges on a case by case basis.
*International returns vary upon location starting at 7 days and I will take each situation on a case by case basis since some locations may take several weeks for arrival.
*All full refund returns must be in new condition (no damage, able to re-sell) in my original internal packaging upon arrival to my location prior to any full refund. If any defects are found then a partial or no refund may be determined at that time.

*All of my feathers are collected from domesticated birds after they're done with them, then cleaned and treated. All my feathers are CRUELTY FREE. Each feather is glued to the clasp prior to securing the metal. I use Liquid Fusion glue which is odorless, non-toxic, clear drying and water-proof. My feather jewelry is quite durable when treated with the care one would use with any other fine jewelry piece. However, if any feathers or pieces are lost/broken...see my next policy.
*I offer a 30 guarantee on all my items - if any of the feathers or parts are lost or fail due to manufacture with normal use, I will replace/repair those parts for free, except for the cost of shipping back to me.
*After 30 days I will replace/repair needed items for the cost of parts and shipping only for life. Some feathers/parts may be difficult or impossible (i.e. vintage) to replace as original but I will do my best with my available stock or parts I can order. It is my intention to build my business gradually as I earn my government pension in 11 years. Once I retire I hope this business will be established enough that I will be working at it full-time only.
*******HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR FEATHERS********
*How to care for your handmade feather product: Your feathered piece of art was made with care; the feathers personally selected and/or matched personally by me, Heather Mewis of Feathered Friends Mementos. With good care your feathered piece should remain in good condition for years. Feathers are made of the protein keratin which is the same as human hair and fingernails. In nature birds routinely take water only baths in puddles and the rain to help care for their feathers, so getting rained on won't cause any permanent harm to your feathers. Birds also only molt once or twice a year and wear their feathers full time 24/7 so they have to last at least 6 months to a year. Wild birds really put their feathers to the test and my feathers are from domesticated birds whose feathers are positively pristine compared to wild birds. Just imagine how durable they have to be and you won't be wearing yours that much so with good care just think how long they'll last!
*If any of the feathers become bent but not broken then place the feather flat in the desired position, inside a book for a few hours. This should straighten the shaft. After it has straighten then gently but firmly comb and smooth the feather between your thumb and first finger until the smaller filaments and bards reconnect. You want to mimic the preening action of a bird's beak combing the feather back into shape.
*If your feather becomes soiled it may be lightly washed with water, reshaped by hand and allowed to air dry. If the stain is more extensive a very small amount of mild soap may be used, the feather rinsed thoroughly, reshaped and allowed to air dry. When not in use the feathers should be stored in a cool, dark place; preferably in a sealed plastic bag. The bag will resist any natural parasites and slow the normal deterioration process, thereby increasing the lifespan of your jewelry.
*Between storage times, occasional exposure to mild humidity or water will help extend the life of your feathers as well since sun and time will eventually dry out the keratin and cause splitting.
