This nice set of vintage salt and pepper shakers, available exclusively here at CandyAppleCrafts, are souvenirs from Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia. They are short and barrel-shaped, with reddish brown tops and cream or tan colored sides in the colonial style of glazed pottery.

The front of each shaker depicts a line drawing of the original (pre-Pevolutionarly War) capital building of Virginia.

I visited the site when I was a child. These shakers were not being sold there when I visited. I doubt they are very old; 70s era at the earliest (from around the time of the US centennial), but more than likely from the 80s instead.

Condition notes: These salt and pepper shakers have crazing in the glaze (a crackled look), which makes them look old. This happens when the ceramic heats or cools unevenly, or when water is absorbed through the unglazed base. Because these are made in the style of very old pottery, I wonder if they were made to look like this? I don't know. I am selling them as is, and have tried to represent them well in photos.
