This beautiful trinket box would make a lovely gift for Mom this Mother's Day! I used my own custom blend of purple Premo polymer clay to cover a 5.5 ounce metal cat food can. I used a pretty filigree stamp to impress the clay, then rubbed the raised surfaces with a mix of Sky Blue and Reflex Purple Pearl Ex powders. I sculpted flowers from my own custom mixed shade of pink Premo polymer clay, textured the petals, and lightly dusted them with purple Pearl Ex powder. I used silver and gold metal filigree jewelry findings as a backing for the flowers and red glass beads for the flower centers. I alternated the silver and gold backed flowers around the box, using wire and liquid polymer clay to secure them in the center of each stamped area. I made pink polymer clay hearts and placed them between the flowers. Six red glass butterflies and two blue and white porcelain birds were placed on top of these hearts and secured with wire and liquid polymer clay.. The lid of the box was sculpted from purple Premo polymer clay as well and I sculpted a large flower on the lid. I colored the flower with purple and blue Pearl Ex powders and sculpted a pink center with a white bead. The handle is heavy gauge metal and is secured within the clay lid. I used two coats of high gloss varnish to protect the clay and give it a lovely shine. The inside of the can is lined with pink felt, and the bottom is covered in purple felt, which I've signed and dated. The trinket box measures about 4 1/2 inches tall with the lid on, 2 inches tall without the lid, and 3 1/2 inches across. This one of a kind trinket box would be perfect as a small jewelry box or keepsake box. I spent many hours on all the tiny details of this piece in order to create this beautiful work of art.

This is my first entry for the Polymer Clay Smooshers guild's May Flowers Challenge. I took my time creating this trinket box, finding just the right stamp design, the perfect Pearl Ex colors, and the perfect accents. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out! :-)
