Special occasion clutch in taupe silk with cream batik lining.

Do you have a special occasion in your future? A prom, perhaps? A wedding? Or do just dig dressing up? This is why I have added clutches to my studio! I first began making them when I was sewing prom dresses and bridesmaid dresses for my daughters. They needed somewhere to keep those little items one never leaves home without, and a matching clutch or handbag fits it to a tee.

This is a classic style clutch evening bag in a wonderful shade of taupe or light brown in some fantastic Dupioni silk fabric.

Dupioni silk is woven of a dual thread, resulting in a Shantung style weave with horizontal lines and slubs from that double thread. The fabric has a lovely sheen to it, as well as a crispness.

I have lined this particular clutch in a cream and beige batik fabric which blends nicely with the silk. I've made a pocket divider inside in the process of lining the bag.

The bag closes with a sewn-on snap with a decorative button on the front of the bag. I always sew my snaps on. It's a quality "thing" for me, as I've had too many snaps on off-the-rack clothing fall out!

This clutch measures approximately 8.5" wide by 7" high when folded.
