Dragonfly necklace pendant, handcrafted colored porcelain clay bead. This is a hollow lentil bead that is about 30mm in diameter, not including the loop at the top.
Dragonflies have long been a favorite of mine. I created this bead using some of my pale yellow stained clay, I created the dragonfly by layering colored slip. The wings and body are green, with blue on top. I then added touches of orange and black. The swirl on the bead compliments the dragonfly's colors. It is a raised textural bead. I handcrafted this dragonfly bead out of my wonderful light yellow clay that is not bright, but more on the neutral side (almost beige). I applied a clear glaze over the entire bead, including the back, to give it a smooth and shiny finish. This dragonfly bead is durable, as it has been fired to over 2200 degrees F.

I wrapped sterling silver at the top and secured a 10mm sterling silver ring, that I soldered closed. Simply slip your silver chain or cord through the loop to create a different look each time you wear it.

This is a unique focal art bead, a tiny work of art.
