This Faux Bakelite Red Dangling Cherries Necklace, RED chain version, is a stunning and affordable reproduction inspired by the rare vintage Bakelite Cherry classic from 1940s that often now sells for over $1000 in the antiques market. It consists of 5 pairs of shiny red cherries with green plastic coated semi-flexible stem wires and eleven medium green leaves that all dangle from a red PVC plastic chain. I make the cherries and leaves by hand from artist-quality polymer clay that is sanded and varnished many times to a high gloss shine. The cherries vary in size from approximately 5/8 inch (16 mm) to ¾ inch (20 mm).

The necklace remains true to the spirit of vintage original and I discovered an un-credited photograph of my recent work (c. 2009) in a gallery of online photos featuring the "best of the vintage 1940s Bakelite jewelry"!

The necklace is 16 inches long (40.64cm) and comes with a 2 inch (5.08cm) necklace extender. The length can be customized if requested. It has a 14mm antique brass plated lobster claw clasp and antique brass jump rings

It arrives wrapped in tissue paper nestled in a colorful fruit themed cookie tin that is placed inside a padded mailer.

NOTE: By SPECIAL ORDER ONLY, two tiny studio-made ladybugs can be added to the necklace leaves for a bit of a whimsical contemporary look (see close up of ladybugs in photo queue). There is no extra charge. It's easy to add them on and it will only delay the shipment of your order by about six hours for the glue to dry, but please MAKE SURE you let me know via "note to seller" at checkout that you'd like to have them added so you aren't disappointed.

I designed this necklace many years ago after I saw one of the original vintage necklaces on a segment of 'Antiques Roadshow' on PBS. The stems were in poor condition, as is usually the case, and after seeing the $1000 plus price tag it commanded I set out to see if I could make an authentic looking affordable reproduction.
