Vintage Grey cased glass vase possibly from the Empoli Region of Italy. This is a marvelous Mid Century vase in a soft shade of grey with an interior of opaque white glass. It is skillfully hand-blown. The vase has an ombre' effect as the color deepens towards the bottom of the vase where it becomes a clear deep smoke grey.
Use this vase for flowering spring branches I have used Forsythia which contrasts so well with grey. Other times use green summer leaves or fall branches for a stylish display. Pink carnations would be a quintessential mid century choice! The vase on its own is beautiful in its simplicity and graceful lines.

This vintage cased glass vase is 9 5/8 inches tall; on a base that is 2.5 inches wide with an opening of 1.75 inches. It is in excellent condition. Perfect for filling with flowers and giving as a gift or even to use at a vintage DIY wedding. Grey and Yellow is one of the newest color trends for weddings in 2012.

The Empoli Region of Italy is in Tuscany near Florence and is well known for graceful fluid glass, which was imported during the 1950's -70's, because it is grey I think it may be from the 1950's as this was a popular color for the times. Many glass ware items were not signed but had little foil labels with the manufactures name. While it is not always possible to know for sure we can base our assumptions due to its style, quality, and details.
