These FOREST MEDLEY gemstone earrings were created as the perfect complement to the necklace of the same name, but can stand wonderfully on their own! Created with glowing green prehnite, hematite and sterling silver, these earrings are one of a kind (OOAK) beaded pieces, jewelry that you will want to wear often. The FOREST MEDLEY earrings were carefully created by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs.

As you can see in the photos, the gorgeous prehnite has a luminous quality. The stones are fairly translucent, especially when back lit when they glow a beautiful light green color. It almost looks as if they have their own light source! Each stone has a natural black amphabole inclusion that adds extra interest to the earrings. I tried to get photos from all sides so you can get an idea of how the earrings look when you see the inclusions and when you do not. The cut of the stones is a softly rounded rectangular shape. Oxidized sterling silver 2mm beads frame the top and bottom of the prehnite, separating the stones from the next element in the earrings. Prehnite is very long-wearing and durable gemstone.

To complement the light green color of the prehnite and to highlight the natural black inclusions in the prehnite, I decided to use shiny hematite discs. What a fabulous luster the discs have, adding even more glow to the earrings. An oxidized sterling silver 2mm bead caps the top of the hematite disc and one separated the disc from the prehnite. I chose to oxidize the sterling beads to mimic the color of the natural inclusions and and the hematite.

To finish the FOREST MEDLEY earrings, the main body was carefully wire-wrapped on sterling silver headpins to sterling silver French hook earwires. A perfect finish for a beautiful pair of earrings!

Prehnite is a very strong protective stone and is said to bring powerful calming energies to the wearer. Encouraging analytical thinking, it helps to dispel unpleasant memories. Hematite is called the "stone of mental mastery" because it is believed to aid in clarity, balance and calm reasoning. It helps the wearer to realize that the only limitations which exist are those self-limiting concepts within the mind. Silver is the metal of love and healing.
