Product Description
So Retro is this 53x70" yellow gingham-like checkered hand fringed tablecloth. Can't you just see this on Donna Reed's kitchen table? Or, maybe Aunt Bee's? Classic diner look. This rectangular tablecloth is a printed check design on a woven cotton fabric, an exclusive of the manufacturer.

This is a new tablecloth and is ready to ship. Need more than one? There are others available in my studio shop. Need a custom size? This fabric is available for custom sizes. Use the "Contact The Seller" link on this page to ask any questions or request a trim scrap of the fabric before purchasing. I will reply promptly.

I'm told this fabric is a cotton chintz. It is prewashed to prevent shrinkage. To launder: Presoak stains; no bleach. Warm or cold wash separately; tumble dry. A light pressing with sizing or steam would likely be desired. I, myself, handfringe or hem all the cloths in my home in a clean environment; no cigarette fumes of any kind. Once made, I hand press with sizing, fold, and seal the cloth into a plastic bag and it awaits for shipping.

When deciding the size of a desired tablecloth, measure the top of your table. Then visualize how much you want the cloth to drape over the edge. Double that number and add it to the length and width measurements of your table top. Then you are ready to order your custom made tablecloth. In some cases I may have to piece the cloth to make it the size you're requesting.

It is my goal to ship all paid orders within 24 to 48 hours of receipt on a USPS service day. Custom orders will require up to one week to process and ship. I will advise the ship date upon receipt of a custom order. Custom orders are not returnable.

I will ship outside the United States. Use the link on this page to contact me with your location. I will promptly reply with a shipping quote. Remember to include your location.
Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
I saw an opportunity to help my daughter with her college debt when I saw this fabric on an auction website. The fabrics, some of which were exclusive to the business that had closed, were very high end qualities that were only sold to designers and architects. A former employee of the company told me some of the exclusive fabrics wholesaled for $100.00 to $350.00 per yard.
Materials Used
Undetermined content blend of fibers.
More Info
My photographs are intented to present a table adorned with a cloth. The size of one's table and the size of the cloth ordered to cover a specific table will determine how much drape or drop the cloth falls over the edge ot that table.

From Wikipedia I've read that Chintz was originally produced between 1600 and 1800 in India as a glazed fabric, printed from woodblocks, painted or stained in floral and other designs for bed pillows, drapes, and quilts. For more information about chintz, visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chintz
