This antique looking golden yellow and plum color toile printed tablecloth is 70x70". This cotton cloth will fit up to a 5' square table. Placed on a 5' table, the fabric will drape over the edges 5" on each side. This handmade tablecloth is seamed with mitered corners for a professional look. The fabric is vintage and from the collection of the Summer Hill home decor fabric line.

When I first heard this fabric was referred to as a toile, I thought it was referring to the type of fabric itself; however, it is not. Toile, pronounced "twall", is a type of printing using wood blocks that began in the 1800s in Ireland and became so popular it quickly spread to Britain and France. Original toiles were pastoral or floral scenes on white or cream backgrounds and later evolved into many different patterns.

The best representation of the true color of this cloth is the 2nd from the left and the one on the far right. I chose to use the other photos to show the stitching that was necessary to design this cloth in this size. Please request a trim scrap to confirm the color of this fabric before purchasing.

When deciding the size of a desired tablecloth, measure the top of your table. Then visualize how much you want the cloth to drape over the edge. Measure the length of the drape; then, double that number. Add that number to the length and width measurements of the table top. Then you are ready to order your custom made tablecloth.

I have prewashed the fabric before cutting to prevent shrinkage of the finished product. I created this item myself in my home in a clean environment where there are no cigarette fumes of any kind.

To launder this item, machine wash separately on warm or cool setting with detergent, no bleach. Tumble dry. Press with steam iron or use sizing.

I saw an opportunity to help my daughter with her college debt when I saw this fabric on an auction website liquidating the inventory of a national manufacturer. The fabrics, which were exclusive to the business that had closed, were very high end, were not sold to the public, but only sold to designers and architects. A former employee of the company told me the fabrics wholesaled for $100 to $350 per yard.
