Product Description
Gorgeous silver plated Art Deco Christening/Childs cutlery set in it's original box and with a wonderful handwritten sentiment and date.

The knife has a silver plated neck, mother of pearl handle and an etched design. The fork and spoon have two etched lines with eight small accents along the handles. They are all exquisitely fine and delicate to hold - just right for little hands and fingers. The back of each utensil is stamped EPNS.

As if that wasn't enough on the lid of the box is a handwritten message:
A little present to Vivienne Waterhouse from Auntie Georgina
June 10 (or 20) 1929
Other writing on the back includes:
To
From
From Georgie
with love
(There is more but I can't make it out).

This set will make a unique present/heirloom for a newborn or child and is sure to be treasured.

About EPNS:
Silver plate (or electroplate) is when a thin layer of pure or sterling silver is deposited electrolytically onto a base metal. John Wright (Birmingham, England) discovered that potassium cyanide was a suitable electrolyte for silver electroplating. His associates, George Elkington and Henry Elkington, received the first patents for electroplating in 1840 and founded the electroplating industry in Birmingham.
