Shell pearls are man-made using the shell of an oyster. The shell is ground up and melted down at which time a mixture is created. This mixture is then sprayed onto a small piece of mother of pearl numerous times over and over to build up layers until a full shell pearl is produced....BEAUTIFUL!!
