Unpainted Roadside Picnic in the 50's Handmade Wood Display Silhouette

Nostalgia time. Roadside picnic in the country. Relaxing, peaceful and away from it all. Are you reminiscing now? This is a 1/8" thick, detailed hand cut wood silhouette of a couple sharing solitude. It is cut from 1/8" Baltic Birch. The silhouette measures 2 3/4" x 9 1/2" and with the optional base 3" x 10 1/2". It is unpainted so you can finish it with your own creativity. A base can be purchased to use for easy display as a free standing display decoration. See elsewhere in this section of my store. A base can be purchased from this section of my store to use for easy display as a free standing display decoration. You should purchase the base at the same time as the silhouette so that we can match the size with the piece and to make sure that the slot fits the silhouette. The bases are 1/2" thick with a slot cut in the top for inserting the silhouette. Each base is 1 3/8" wide. For our finished silhouettes we use bases that are about 1" longer than the silhouette is wide which seems to be a pleasing proportion. If you do use our optional base this increases the length by 1" and the height by about 1/4" and, of course the total width increases to 1 3/8" which is the width of the base.

Our silhouettes and wall hangings make an interesting and unique addition to any decor at home or office. Display the silhouettes on a desk, shelf or bookcase. We like to display them on window sills or on the top of the bottom sash of a double hung window. The natural back light of the outside really highlights them. Many people have purchased our silhouettes for wedding cake toppers or reception table decorations. In addition they have provided table decorations for many special events. You can also use them as a wall decoration by not using the base and with a small hanger or adhesive mount them on the wall. They make welcomed unique gifts for those on your shopping list and with our large variety of designs I am sure we have a silhouette that anyone can appreciate.

A word about how we make these silhouettes. They are totally hand cut on a scroll saw and then sanded so that you can get right to work applying the finish of your choice. . No automatic cutting machines are used and so we classify our silhouettes as handmade. If this is of interest to you please take the extra time in reviewing our approximately 500 different designs.

If you do chose a base, to save on shipping costs and to allow you to use the silhouette alone as a wall or furniture decoration the base and the silhouette are shipped unattached. To permanently attach the base to the silhouette just put a dab of household or common wood glue in the slot of the base and carefully insert the silhouette.

As with any of our items you must be 100% satisfied or you may return the item within 14 days for a full refund including all shipping charges. We do ask that you contact us by email before returning an item which includes the name of the item and your preference regarding receiving the refund.

Our 1/8" silhouettes are shipped first class USPS mail in a padded envelope. Iit is our experience that for our packages USPS first class is just as fast as USPS priority and at a much lower cost to you.. Shipping charges are as displayed on the items listing and we do ship worldwide. We do combine shipping cost on multiple item purchases.
