Product Description

This wood fridge magnet of a Parrot flying is a small sculpture, hand carved on the front and edges, and painted using an airbrush and colored inks. The back is signed and has 2 strong magnets glued into recesses. This is strong enough to hold up several sheets of paper. It is about 5 x 8 x .7 cm (2 x 3 x .3 inch).

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

I was inspired to create a useful bit of artwork, similar in spirit to my other sculptures, which is affordable enough for anyone to have gracing their refrigerator.

I use knives and chisels, not a power carver, to finish shaping the basswood. This technique gives crisper details. It is sanded smooth, and an airbrush used to apply water-based inks, with some details being burned In. It is finished with 3 coats of water-based urethane, and signed on the back. 2 strong 1/2" (1cm) diameter magnets are glued into recesses, strong enough to hold up several sheets of paper.
