Turtle Earrings with Coral-Colored and Blush Quartz Beads

Product Description

These earrings are made from silver-toned turtle charms decorated with flat-backed turquoise-colored beads. The charm hangs in front of a pearlized disk bead. From the charm hangs a coral-colored acrylic drop and a round bead of blush quartz.

Please note that the charm does not have genuine turquoise on it.

The earring hooks are silver-plated and come with clear earnuts.

Length: around 2 inches including ear hooks.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

When I saw these turtle charms, I immediately had to get them. I thought over what to do with them, and decided I wanted to use the coral-colored beads and pearlized disks as suggestions of the sea.

Turtles have symbolic meanings for many cultures, which is why I like them so much. They symbolize Mother Earth to many Native American cultures, and are associated with creation stories. In Far Eastern cultures they are often seen as symbolic of heaven (the shell's top) and earth (the shell's base). They are a divine animal to the Chinese, and a female power symbol to certain African cultures. The Sea King's daughter also appears as a turtle in the Japanese folktale of Urashima, which is a favorite of mine.
