This vintage micro mosaic brooch from Italy features a lovely floral mosaic design with four large variegated daises and six minute yellow flowers. There are variegated green leaves on a cobalt blue background. There is a double gold tone rope pattern edging. The back is stamped "Italy."

There appears to be no missing tiles in the floral pattern but does appear there is one missing in the blue background and either a second or it is a space. This can be seen in the closeup but difficult with the naked eye. This is in excellent condition considering it was purchased 40 years ago at an estate sale so we don't know how old it is.

Micro mosaics date back to the 3rd century BC, although the height of their popularity was during the mid 19th and mid 20th centuries.

This beautiful brooch measures 1-1/2" across.
