Vintage 40s Smocking Pattern/ Good Housekeeping Mail Order/ 6 dsgn w Floral Embroidery Embellishment/ Rambling Rose/ Lazy Daisy

Good things come in very old envelopes...Here is the description from the pattern text: Good Housekeeping pattern for Smocking R228: "Use these smocking patterns on blouses, bedspreads, dressing table skirts, lampshades, children's dresses, aprons and on any household and personal articles desired. Almost any material, silk, cotton, linen or wool in plain, printed, checked or striped can be smocked. Use Star Six Strand Embroidery Cotton (American Thread Co.) in colors to harmonize or contrast or in dominant color of print. Use two to six strands of cotton in needle at one time depending on whether heavy or fine smocking is desired."

Includes graphic diagrams and instructions for six unique designs that include French knots, Lazy Daisy stitch, Rambler Rose stitch, Single stitch, Blanket stitch, Running stitch.

Condition: Excellent- there is yellowing of the paper expected for it age, but there are no marks, or tears on the instructions.

The pattern comes in its original mailing envelope. The metered stamp "SEC 562 PL&R" which puts age estimate from 1932 to 1948 range.

This is the actual original pattern not a copy.
