Product Description
The Bat-Eared Sap Dragon is a whimsical fantasy sculpture of a unique species of fairy dragon. It is an original OOAK (one-of-a-kind) creation sculpted from artist-quality polymer clays and mixed media on a driftwood base. This delightful creature would be a wonderful gift for dragon lovers and biology enthusiasts -- maybe for yourself!

This dragon specimen is pale yellow, with translucent red ears and reddish-brown stripes, facial markings, feet, and underside. He has real deer hair (dyed yellow) in his ears and tasseled tail. Two tiny fangs appear on either side of his little red tongue. The driftwood base is detailed with faux moss on all sides.

The Bat-Eared Sap Dragon is #2 in my Fairy Dragon sculpture series. He is removable from the driftwood base (but is sculpted to be displayed on it). The total size including dragon and base is 9.5" (24 cm) long, 2.5" (6.25 cm) wide, 4.25" (11 cm) tall.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
If you should ever be so fortunate as to see a Bat-Eared Sap Dragon, it will be in a forest in the realm of Faerie. However, you will likely never see one -- not only because it is difficult for humans to enter Faerie, but also because the dragon's enormous hairy ears will alert him that a large potential predator is approaching long before you come near. Were you to somehow catch up with him, he would launch mildly poisonous barbs from his tasseled tail.

Most of the time, this little fairy dragon is happily lapping sap from a tree that he has pierced with his vampiric fangs after he's ripped away a section of bark with his claws.

Now, one might think that the Bat-Eared Sap Dragon is a terrible pest in Faerie, and a particular enemy of dryads. Quite the contrary! For when he bites a tree, he injects a substance that protects the tree from most diseases and parasites. Because of this symbiotic relationship, the Bat-Eared Sap Dragon is sometimes called Dryad's Familiar.
