This pretty floral wall hanging was sculpted by hand from polymer clay and features pink polymer clay roses alternated with green leaves along the bottom. Textured polymer clay branches laden with pink flowers curve up the sides to meet at the top. These flowers have three layers of petals, each a different shade of pink. I filled the indented centers of each flower with yellow embossing powder before baking the piece. In the center of the plaque is a green leaf design with vintage metal jewelry findings and a purple acrylic flower. On either side of this are two yellow and green acrylic flowers on a purple star shaped background which was sprinkled with yellow embossing powder. The two blue flowers were sculpted from polymer clay with bead centers and each has a purple butterfly on the petal. The butterflies are metal charms which I painted with acrylic paint. Three red hummingbirds with white bellies are evenly spaced around the plaque. These are also metal charms which I painted with acrylic paint. At each of the bottom corners I secured a vintage flower shaped metal earring component. The background of the plaque was enhanced with Pearl Ex powders in gold, purple, and blue. All elements have been securely attached with wire and liquid polymer clay. I glazed the entire piece with a durable high gloss glaze. For added strength the piece has a heavy gauge wire running through it, which is also the hanging wire. I covered the back with felt to protect the plaque as well as your wall. This wall hanging measures 8 1/2 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall. I've signed and dated the back of this one of a kind piece.

I created this piece as an entry in the Polymer Clay Smooshers guild's Buds and Blooms challenge. This one was a lot of fun to create, and I enjoyed adding the various different vintage jewelry pieces, charms, and beads. I've been inspired by Christi Friesen to add more beads and other components to some of my pieces. I really enjoy using some of Gramma's broken vintage jewelry as well. I'm glad I can give these pretty pieces a new use!
