The star of this necklace is the stunning pendant. It is made of dichroic glass and fine silver on a sterling silver chain. I call it CERULEAN WAVE. This is my own design and is one of a kind (OOAK).

The shiny blue is dichroic glass. I made the glass cabochon myself. This one is a beautiful turquoise blue, like a Caribbean beach. It has subtle horizontal stripes in a darker blue. It reminds me of waves lapping on the beach, so I wanted to make a sea themed pendant out of it.

I surrounded the glass with fine silver in a wave texture. The rolled bail also has the same wave texture. In front of the rolling wave bail is a little fish. On the back I signed it and made a fish design cut-out.

To continue the wave theme, I found a beautiful sterling silver diamond cut chain. It looks like rolling waves. The chain is fairly thick, and because it is diamond cut, it catches the light beautifully. It has a sterling lobster clasp.

I made the glass cabochon in my kiln, fusing two layers of glass at almost 1500 degrees Farenheit. I use compatible glass and anneal it properly for strength and durability. The slightly textured pattern in the glass is part of the glass. It will not wear off. Dichroic glass looks different depending on the angle you view it from. That's why one picture shows me holding it sideways so you can see the color change.

After the glass is finished I add the fine silver metal clay (PMC), After texturing, smoothing and sanding, I fired it in my kiln again. When PMC is fired, the organic binder is burned out of the clay and only the metal is left. In this case, because it is fine silver PMC, the metal that remains is 99.9% silver or fine silver, compared to sterling silver, which is 92.5% silver. I burnished it to close up the pores, which hardens and smooths the metal. Then added a little bit of black patina on the fish only to bring out the texture.
