This is a digital stamp of the Cowardly Lion from the original 1900 edition of the Wizard of Oz, illustrated by William Wallace Denslow. In the original book, just as in the later movie, the Lion's true nature is revealed when he seems to be trying to bite Toto and Dorothy slaps him on the nose. W. W. Denslow's illustration of him has so much expression!

This stamp would be great for any Oz themed crafts you have - just resize it to fit your needs and print it out.

This image has been cleaned up from the original, and is at least 300 ppi (pixels per inch) resolution. It is a transparent .png file. If you prefer .jpg format, please let me know. The "default" size of this large image is about 4" x 4 1/2" (10 cm x 11.5 cm) but you may resize it as you wish with any graphics or word processing program.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
Little Toto, now that he had an enemy to face, ran barking toward the Lion, and the great beast had opened his mouth to bite the dog, when Dorothy, fearing Toto would be killed, and heedless of the danger, rushed forward and slapped the Lion upon his nose as hard as she could, while she cried out:

"Don't you dare to bite Toto! You ought to be ashamed of yourself, a big beast like you, to bite a poor little dog!"

"I didn't bite him," said the Lion, as he rubbed his nose with his paw where Dorothy had hit it.

"No, but you tried to," she retorted. "You are nothing but a big coward."

"I know it," said the Lion, hanging his head in shame; "I've always known it. But how can I help it?"
