A beautifully colored Juvenile Conch Shell holds so gently an Apache Tear Black Obsidian in a gold wire wrapped pendant. Scroll work and twisting secure the shell to put a chain or cord through and wear proudly around your neck.

This is an original design by Bridget, with the shell found in the Caribbean and the Apache Tear from Arizona. A unique piece, you will not find one like it from either place or anywhere in between.

The Conch Tear Pendant measures 2 3/8 inches long (6 cm) including the wire bale. The shell itself is 1 7/8 inches by 3/4 inch (49 mm x 20 mm).

The legend of the Apache Tears is this:

About 75 Apaches and the US Calvary squared off against each other in battle on a mountain overlooking what is now Superior, Arizona in the 1870's. Rather than face defeat, the outnumbered Apache warriors rode their horses off the mountain to their deaths. The families of the warriors cried when they learned of the tragedy. Their tears turned into stone upon hitting the ground. Today these beautiful translucent gemstones are known as Apache Tears Good Luck Stones.

Their sadness was so great, and their burden of sorrow so sincere that the Great Father embedded into black stones the tears of the Apache women who mourned their dead. These black obsidian stones, when held to the light, reveal the translucent tear of the Apache. The stones bring good luck to those possessing them. It is said that whoever owns an Apache tear drop will never have to cry again, for the Apache maidens have shed their tears in place of yours.

The Apache tear drops are also said to balance the emotional nature and protect one from being taken advantage of. It can be carried as an amulet to stimulate success in business endeavors, and also used to produce clear vision and to increase psychic powers.

Black obsidian is a powerful meditation stone. The purpose of this gemstone is to bring to light that which is hidden from the conscious mind. It dissolves suppressed negative patterns and purifies them. It can create a somewhat radical behavior change as new positive attitudes replace old, negative, egocentric patterns.
