One of a kind handmade dress. White silk is hand painted and hand dyed to create this minimalist strapless, babydoll sundress or summer dress.

Perfect for destination weddings at the beach or just for a hot summer`s day!

With Valentine`s Day just around the corner and the freezing weather of this time of year, what better than to think of sea, sand and surf destination beach weddings under the sun!

satin silk, dye, wax, fixer, thread

This is imported white satin silk. Using traditional batik techniques, wax is poured on the silk using a Canting or Tjanting in the shapes of seaweed and water fronds, then the silk is colored in by hand with dark silver and shiny black.

Only the finest German dyes are used to ensure color fastness and vibrancy.

After drying, the colored silk piece is placed in textile fixer, then double boiled to remove the wax as well as test for color bleeding. The silk is then ironed to test for durability and to keep the colors on!

Keeping the background white is especially difficult as being extremely careful still does not stop colors from seeping on to the background sometimes! (sigh!)

Once satisfactory, the finished batik hand painted silk piece is tailored into this darling strapless maxi dress!

High quality rubber thread (made in England) is sewn across the top to create the stretchy bust and the bottom of the dress is hemmed.

This piece took three days to paint and sew.

SIZING IS APPROXIMATE AND TAKEN WITH GARMENT FLAT, EDGE TO EDGE, THEN MULTIPLIED BY TWO.

In order to ensure a proper fit, please compare size given here to a garment you already own and can wear well. Don`t forget to give yourself a little breathing room or some space for a little dessert! :D


Maximum Size (APPROXIMATE):

Under Bust - 48 inches / 121.92 cm (Under bust does not stretch. Measure your ribs carefully!)
Bust - 30 - 55 inches / 76 - 139.7 cm (Great stretchability! High quality rubber thread, will not lose its stretch)
Waist - freesize
Hips - freesize
Length - 102 inches / 259 cm


To give your Silk Batik a long and happy life, please look after it carefully with these tips and hints and a bit of common sense:


- Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
- Use cold water rather than warm or hot.
- Silk is a natural fibre like hair, as such you may find that a little shampoo will be gentler and give your batik a lustrous, shiny glow as opposed to using harsh detergents.
- NEVER EVER BLEACH!!!! Good gracious!!! 0_o
