What a beautiful gift this handmade, one of a kind (OOAK) BELIEVE necklace would make for Easter, Mother's Day, birthdays or for Christmas! Created with a sterling silver "believe" cross, freshwater pearls and turquoise lampwork pebbles, it certainly will add an elegant side to anything it is worn with, from dress up to dress down. This gorgeous piece of Christian beaded jewelry was created by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs.

The cross used in BELIEVE is a simple beauty that speaks volumes! The cross was artisan hand-crafted of sterling silver using the lost wax technique. It has been slightly oxidized and then buffed to a warm radiance to bring out the wonderful hand-etched "Believe" across the front and the thin line that runs along the edge of the cross. The backside is flat with evidence of that it is handmade. The cross is much more shiny than the photos lead you to believe.

I have always loved the look of shiny sterling silver with the radiance of pearls, so chose white freshwater pearls to highlight the cross. What amazing luster these pearls have, almost as if they glow on their own! The shape is called "semi-baroque" because they are somewhat oblong, many having a slightly flattened side. This semi-baroque shape gives amazing texture to the necklace as each individual pearl catches the light differently.

Look again at the necklace and you will see what maybe at first glance looks like turquoise is really fabulous turquoise-colored lampwork glass pebbles! Handmade by ArtFire artists beadsandbotanicals (http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/beadsandbotanicals), they give the necklace a slight rustic appeal, especially when combined with the elegance of the pearls. The pebbles have a semi-matte, lava rock finish and were faceted by hand when the glass was still molten. Sterling silver daisy spacers and 2mm beads were used to spotlight the lampwork pebbles and to separate them from the pearls.

To finish BELIEVE, a lovely, flowing sterling silver s-clasp was used. A perfect finish for a gorgeous necklace!

Pearls are used to spread loving vibrations; they also promote sincerity, truth and loyalty. Silver is the metal of love and healing.

I have been wanting to use the handmade believe cross in a design for some time now. It wasn't until I bought the pearls and the lampwork pebbles that the design seemed to "click".
