1914 John Bauer Engraved Art Nouveau Fairy Tale Title Page From the Annual Publication "Among Gnomes and Trolls"

A beautiful Art Nouveau illustration by Swedish artist John Bauer, this is an original paper ~ the frontis from the 1914 edition of 'Bland Tomtar och Troll' or 'Among Gnomes and Trolls'.

This is an original paper from the 1914 edition, Volume 8.

Bauer's beautiful work is captioned in Swedish ~

"EN SAMLING SAGOR MED TECKNINGAR AV JOHN BAUER" ... which translates (closely) as ~ 'A COLLECTION OF STORIES WITH DRAWINGS BY JOHN BAUER.'

"RED. CYRUS GRANER" [EDITOR ~ CYRUS GRANER] 1914

The heavy paper is blank on its reverse, measures 7" x 7.625" (18x19 cm), showing light tanning and is wonderfully smooth and clear, with only a bit of softening at the corners. The illustration is initialed J.B. in the lower right corner and there are no tears, folds, creases, or marks on the paper.

Enormously frame-worthy, delightfully Art Nouveau, a wonderful rare find. Frame or perhaps you'll want this for your art - it will work delightfully for your card and tag creations, for your scrap book page making, for collage and decoupage.

"Bland Tomtar Och Troll" (Swedish for "Among Gnomes and Trolls") was an annual collection of fairy tales, written by Swedish authors, begun in 1907.

John Bauer (Swedish painter/illustrator, 1882-1918) took part in the volumes for eight years (1907 - 1910 and 1912 - 1915) and the last 4 years contain his most famous works.
