Please read the description of the ammonite I used in this unisex copper and 14 karat gold filled wire wrap and weave ammonite pendant and look carefully at all ten pictures. I photographed the first picture against a setting sun in order to correctly display the delicacy of the wire work, the initial picture does not represent the color of the fossil itself. The ammonite in this pendant has a dark brown, smooth, slightly translucent field with a compelling spiraling, undulating design in light tan. This makes this particular stone almost irresistible to the men I know who have seen it. The gold filled and copper woven spirals and gold filled scroll work surrounding the focal gem echo the shapes and textures of the patterning on the fossil's surface. The delicate wire work adds texture and sparkle to the matte surface of the copper and the glossy shine of the ammonite.

The inspiration for this design was a photograph I saw of a colony of these ancient creatures. Their shapes and textures were just amazing to see and the variety of sizes was incredibly pleasing to my eye. They looked like a huge extended family!

I captured the entire tableau inside a simple fat teardrop shape. The frame that supports the delicate wire work is very strong with a slightly rugged appearance. This enhances the appearance of something that comes down to us from the mists of prehistory.
