The Artisan Handcrafted Ammonite Needle Lace Antique Brass Necklace ...this amazing necklace features seven (7) millions of years old fossils of extinct marine invertebrates.The ammonites are split in half revealing the inner chambers, which exhibit warm, beautiful color. Each ammonite is painstakingly wrapped in a brass wire "needle lace" bezel and linked to each other.

Needle lace is made by looping and inter-looping one loop at a time...a technique that is both time consuming and finger cramping.

Each ammonite fossil measures approximately 1.25" - 1.5" (3.2 - 3.8 cm) for a total of 16" - 19" (40 - 48 cm) adjustable length with "S" link closure. The central ammonite drops approx. 1.5". A subtle patina was applied for added depth.

This striking statement necklace is fit for a goddess...of either land or sea and sure to be treasured for years to come.

The inspiration for this piece was to create a piece that I imagine would adorn a mermaid or sea goddess, like the mythological Sirena.
