Fabric Covered Composition Book or Journal- Rainbow Colors Sweet Gum Leaves Sunprint . Size- 8"x10.5" closed. This sturdy, beautiful and decorative composition notebook cover is made using my sunprinted and hand dyed cotton fabric fused and stitched onto heavy interfacing. The front panel of this cover has a sunprint of leaves from a Sweet Gum tree over fabric painted in medium overlapping shades of rose, blues and greens with a touch of yellow. The spine of the cover has a hand painted fabric in light pink with various stamped images of flowers and butterflies in deeper shades of pink and shimmery blue. There is one of my scrunch patterned hand painted fabrics with the same colors as the front of the cover and a shimmery paint over much of it used on the back of the cover.

A ribbon tie decorated with a heart shaped bead with blue stars on it, wraps around the gold tone button on the front of the cover to keep your book securely closed. A standard composition notebook- 9.75"x 7.5" with 100 sheets is included. The notebook can be used for journaling, homework assignments, or even sketching out ideas. When notebook is full, just add a new one. Your cover can be reused many times.

My sunprints are created by painting fabric with acrylic textile paints. Fresh or pressed leaves, flowers, shapes cut from foam sheets, or other items are placed onto the wet paint, then the fabric is put in the sun to dry. The drying process causes the prints to form. The paint under the objects wicks out from underneath along with the water, as the fabric around the objects dries. There is no way to know exactly how a print will develop, due to variations in drying conditions, application of the paint, type of fabric, etc. No two will ever be alike, because the paint won't dry exactly the same way twice.

I use lots of notebooks in all sizes as sketchbooks, for writing ideas, lists, and more. I was bored with the plain look of most books, so I created my book covers to make them look much nicer, and to protect the notebooks and their contents. I am designing covers for many different sizes of journals, composition books, and even "brag" books for photos. The final photo is of a group of some of the different sizes that I am making.
