Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
*Obsidian is a compact natural glass, occurring as crusts on lava flows, as ejecta or as the outer layer of volcanic domes. Mahogany Obsidian is red-brown. The coloring mechanism of the Obsidian family is finely distributed magnetite, hematite or other coloring elements thus there are differing colorations of obsidian ranging from grey or brown to deep black. When Obsidian is high in silica content, it belongs to the rhyolite family. There are also trachytic, andesitic and phonolitic obsidians. The Moh's hardness of Obsidian is 5-51/2 and has such a sharp edged fracture. Obsidian was used for weapons such as knives, arrow heads and scrapers among other things, as well as utensils.
