This is a retractable click pen that has been covered with a purple bargello pattern polymer clay from slices of one of my own clay canes.
Once baked the pen barrel was sanded repeatedly and hand buffed to a silky shine.
A very handsome pen and yet inexpensive. They make great gifts for anyone.



The pen;
This one has black ink.

It is refillable. You need to pick up a box of "bic clic stix" pens. Staples carries them. Remove the clip end and simply replace the ink cartridge with one from a new pen.

The polymer clay covered part will last for many years with proper care.

Note; SOMETIMES I cover the clip with clay on these. Sometimes not. If yours is clay covered, you will need to treat that clip with a little extra care. Do not try to force the clip over fat objects. If you bend it too much the clay will crack off. I'd say no more than a piece of paper, or the thickness of your shirt pocket. No more.

Also... when it comes time to replace the ink. VERY carefully get a knife edge between the pen barrel and clip. You want to apply force to the plastic under the clay, not to the clay itself as you pull the end off. Pulling too hard on a clay covered clip will cause the clay to pop off. There simply isn't much surface space for that clay to hang onto.

And if that happens, any good super glue will work fantastic on polymer clay to plastic. Simply glue it back on.
Or... just leave the clay off the clip. It's only there for looks anyway.

The pen barrel itself is much more sturdy. No extra care is needed there. In fact, clay covered pens will be thicker than the pen out of the box making it more comfortable to use. (some of my pens are fatter than others. Look close at the photos.)
