Product Description
Hand carved and hand painted, decorative hiking stick.

I have made many sticks and taller staffs over the years. You can see them all on my site here as well as read more about how they are made.

I usually have no clue what kind of wood I'm using but in this case, the piece was given to me and I know it's cherry. In fact I thought the bark was interesting enough that I didn't want to strip it all off. My idea was to make something that left the natural bark in tact, but just exposed a little of the wood under the bark. Ah but then... the sci fi nut in me had to paint that heart wood with something no Earthly tree would be. Iridescent blue! Hence the "alien blue flame" title.

The handle, as with all my sticks, is sanded extra smooth and given extra coats of paint. I tend to carve those into a "faux sheath" type of thing.

The paint used is an artist grade acrylic. And I mixed in some iridescent medium to the blue parts. Then the entire stick is given several coats of clear gloss for protection. A rubber foot is added to the bottom. (easily removed and/or replaced as needed.)

PLEASE NOTE;
Most of my sticks are extremely strong. This one is NOT!
I was bored one summer day, felt like carving and settled for a few sticks that really wouldn't normally be my first choice. I went ahead and carved two then realized I wished I hadn't.
There is a bend to the stick, more than I'd like. Some of my thicker sticks also have bends but they are so strong it doesn't matter. This one is thin. So put any weight on it and it will bend and snap.
I carved two in one day, then realized they are too thin and curved and let them sit. For several years actually. Finally decided to just paint these and list them for what they are. Decorative.

Now even though it's thin, and has that annoying bend to it, if all you need is a little extra balance, or just want something that looks darn awesome to walk with and don't need to lean on it, this would work fine.

Some people collect hiking sticks as art. And absolutely this one would stand out. (in fact, it was a visit to my doctors office where I noticed a whole bin full of sticks that I decided to just finish these.

SHIPPING; Probably too high.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hiking sticks range in size and length and I've found it impossible to calculate shipping ahead of time. What I've posted here is most likely more than what it actually costs. I'm basing it on what it costed to send the largest stick the furthest away.
Either contact me before buying with your zip and I'll find out what shipping is and edit the listing for you.
Or...
I'll simply round up to the nearest dollar and refund the rest via pay pal after it's shipped. (so if paying in any other method please contact me first.)
International shoppers?
I would be delighted to ship this anywhere. But as I can't even nail down a shipping rate within the USA, I sure can't figure it out over seas. So please, just drop me a note. Tell me where you are, and I'll find out for you.
