Product Description
Pretty in Pink polymer clay covered twist pen. This is a faux opal technique of mine. Be sure to look close at all the photos. This one really does look better in person but I tried to show why.

To make a faux opal, I have used nothing but translucent clays here. Some have been mixed with alcohol based ink which I found is much more translucent than using an out of the package translucent pink clay.
Then I Divide my batches of plain translucent, and pink dyed translucent. I mix in well some very fine glitter and larger flake glitter.
Now the trick to making a nice faux opal is to NOT have bits of glitter poking through. To do this, I roll out a sheet of my glitter mix, then another sheet, paper thin of plain clear translucent and lay my glitter dyed blend on top of that.

The pen barrel is first rolled with a thin sheet of white. Then with my glitter blend. That very thin clear layer now on top, makes sure any flakes of glitter are completely covered.
Sanding and buffing really helps too.

The feel when I'm all done, is just like polished stone. Very sleek, and very beautiful. The glitter is just barely visible and only when the light hits it just right. As in a real opal.

The pen;
Is a very nice quality twist pen. I made one of these for myself to test and it's really nice. Writes very smooth and is a good heavy pen.

This one comes in a plastic protective box. (not photographed in this listing.)
This would make a wonderful gift.

I do have pen refills for 1.00 ea. They are in the pen section, usually last item in the section.
