This turquoise glass cabochon with matrix is a vintage piece that is an unusual shape. It is oval and slender at 31x16mm/1 and 1/4" x 5/8". It is a gorgeous and in perfect vintage condition. With it are vintage Czech pressed glass beads. The light blue opal flowers are 15mm/ 7/8". The vintage minty rounds with embossed moon and stars are 13mm/ 1/2".
The handmade link necklace is 18"/ 46cm long. It includes links with old green wound round beads from Thailand. And 4mm Swarovski bicones in Fern Green with an AB coating for extra sparkle.
The clasp is a silver metal toggle.
I set the cabochon on backing and then bead embroidered the bezel around it. The colors of the seed beads I used are Opaque Rainbow Turquoise Green, Transparent Teal and Opaque Pale Yellow. I then glued it to a lovely oxidized silver Morning Glory stamping. I hung the enamel and rhinestone triangle component onto the bottom, underneath the cabochon.

This cabochon stone is so interesting. You can look through the matrix to the layers of glass below it. It is from the Czech Republic and was made by people who were very good at glass making.
It had been in the back of my mind as I worked on other pieces. I had most of the components already but when I got the antique beads from Thailand and the Morning Glory stamping that creative button was pushed. And I love it. It is fun and comfortable to wear and is just right for summer and lighter fabrics.
