Product Description

This is a traditional cameo necklace with tortoise shell lucite and gold gilt. It is 40x30mm//1 3/8"x13/16" big. The cameo has been bead embroidered to backing and ultrasuede. It is then strung on a necklace with gold matte metallic 6mm glass beads, matte gold glass seed beads and transparent brown glass beads. It is 17"/ 43cm long.
The obtrusive fly, so incongruous on the cameo is a vintage brass piece that has been hand treated with Iris Blue, Patina (turquoise) and Damson (brown-red) Gilder's Paste.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

I love my addition of the fly to so traditional a necklace. It is done with humor and playfulness. I hope it will make people who see it come closer. And produce a double-take or two.
I have many vintage pieces of insects but I have rarely used them. So it was fun to use the fly on this piece. And makes me want to use more of them.....keep coming back!
