This fun Halloween Jack O Lantern jar was created by covering a 2.5 ounce glass baby food jar with polymer clay. First I covered the jar in a layer of glow in the dark polymer clay, then sculpted the orange pumpkin over that. The eyes and mouth were cut out and the glow in the dark clay shows through the openings. To continue the Halloween theme, I sculpted a black cat curling around the side of the Jack O Lantern. He measures about 4 1/2 inches long from is nose to the tip of his tail. I used glow in the dark clay for his eyes and textured his fur. On the other side of the pumpkin is a ghost which was sculpted from glow in the dark clay, with black clay for his eyes and mouth. The ghost measures about 4 inches long. Both the ghost and the black cat were securely attached to the pumpkin with liquid polymer clay. The lid of the pumpkin has a sculpted stem and leaves attached. The stem was sculpted around a heavy gauge wire and I added liquid polymer clay to be sure there was a strong bond between the clay. I sealed the entire piece with high gloss glaze and covered the bottom with felt. The jar measures 4 1/2 inches tall and would make a great stash jar for all your tiny treasures. The glow in the dark effects are absolutely awesome and make this a great Halloween decoration!

Autumn always inspires me to make Halloween themed items, and there always seems to be glow in the dark clay involved ;-) Jack O lanterns, black cats (which I've always found to be rather lucky critters), and ghosts all represent Halloween for me. Plus I like being able to recycle these empty baby food jars in such a fun way!
