This cute blue parrot pin was sculpted by hand in polymer clay and would make a wonderful gift for any bird lover. I started with a textured polymer clay rectangle and pressed the parrot sculpture onto this background. I dusted the background with green Pearl Ex powder. The bird's head and body were sculpted from light blue polymer clay and his wings and tail are dark blue polymer clay dusted with blue Pearl Ex powder. I added texture to resemble feathers to the parrot's head, body, and wings, and tail. I sculpted his beak from brown polymer clay and dusted it with green Pearl Ex powder. I added a line of iridescent glass beads along his tail and a small golden flower finding on his shoulder. I protected the pin with high gloss glaze. This fun pin measures 3 inches tall and about 1 1/2 inches wide with a 1 inch pin back. I've also signed the back of the brooch, so you know it's an original creation.

This whimsical parrot pin was inspired by Christi Friesen and a project from her book on sculpting birds. Of course I took the project off in my own direction, giving it that "CreativeCritters" touch ;-)
